Our Wedding Day

The long awaited photos are finally here! Our wedding day was a beautiful warm sunny day on October 21st, 2017. We decided to host our wedding at Serenity Cottage with a waterfront view of Georgian Bay and a gorgeous 2 acre lot. It was really important to us to have our wedding be casual, relaxed and most of all a nice mini getaway for our guests. I think it perfectly sums up our style and our dreams for the future. The first thing Adam and I dreamed of together was having a cottage someday where we could overlook the water with our dogs and relax with friends and family – so being able to get married in this type of setting was truly special.

Special thank you to @MagicinColoursPhotography and Kevin Davis Photography for their amazing shots! I am so happy that my Dad and sister were able to capture our special moments! Also included are some great moments from our #DavisOBrienWedding hashtag on Instagram!

Love,

Stephanie

Winter Outfit Idea

This outfit is the perfect shine meets casual look for the winter season. I love pairing blouses with denim – it’s my go-to outfit no matter the occasion! Take a look at the outfit below with our pups, Ace & Koda. You can follow their adventures on Instagram here.

Here we took the pups for a nice little stroll before it got too dark outside. This was a little time ago at the beginning of November when Koda was so much smaller! She is almost 4 months now and a lot more light in the face! She’s growing into her paws and we are so curious if those ears of hers are actually going to stand up! And not pictured here – it was 3 degrees and cold! That scarf kept me nice and toasty, but my nose was chilly by the end of it!

Special thanks to Christina Davis of Magic in Colours Photography for the mini-shoot! Check out her social pages here: Instagram and Facebook link above!

The Outfit:

  • Coat is from Forever21 last season, find a similar one here from the Gap
  • Blouse from Anthropologie
  • Denim from the Gap, similar pair here
  • Chunky Infinity Knit Scarf from the Gap a few seasons ago, similar one here (right now under $12!!)
  • Necklace from Anthropologie, similar one here
  • Shoes from Call it Spring, similar ones here

12 Days of Christmas: The Toronto Christmas Market #tcm16

img_1984

I always found it so interesting that people tend to already live in such amazing cities or towns but choose to travel around the world. I have lived in Toronto my entire life and have to admit that I do not know my city very well when it comes to what makes people want to travel here. I’ve been making a serious effort to explore my city and to visit some amazing places at home! This year, I was determined to go to The Toronto Christmas Market at the Distillery District. So, my finance, fur-baby and I ventured out on the coldest night (so far) and explored!

I was so happy to discover that dogs are allowed and welcomed at The Christmas Market! Ace was definitely a crowd pleaser in his cute little Christmas sweater. We couldn’t get very far without stopping for people who wanted to say hello to our handsome little fellow.

Our first stop (no doubt) was a Grilled Cheese station. I can’t even express in words on this blog how yummy our grilled cheese was. We ordered “Christmas Dinner” grilled cheese, which was turkey, cranberry sauce and brie. I promise to post about how to make this amazing sandwich. I have a few favourite food groups and grilled cheese is absolutely one of them!

We wandered around some more, looking at the different markets and new light displays. Overall it was a beautiful sight. I just wish there was a few more things to do…as it got a tad boring by the end and only ended spending just over an hour there. I think it would have been too cold to stay any longer anyways!

But, it’s definitely worth checking out and will certainly put you in the Christmas spirit!

Next on my Christmas Market list is Nathan Philips Square (somewhere I also have never visited!!).

Take a look at some of the photos I snapped (in between trying to keep my fingers warm – I definitely need the touch gloves for Christmas).

What are some of your favourite places to visit during the Holidays?

Merry Christmas!

Our Fall Adventure

I’ve always grown up with dogs as part of the family. When we lost our family dog, Bear, five years ago, it was one of the hardest things I had to go through. He had been in my life since I was six years old.  Always there to greet us when we got home from school to show his unconditional love. I had always pictured my life with a dog in it, and when it wasn’t, I couldn’t help but feel like there was something missing.

We adopted Ace two years ago this coming December. I cannot tell you how much joy he has brought to our life, but more importantly how amazing it feels to love something so unconditionally. Taking care of a dog has been a lot of work and has taken a lot of patience. And I mean a lot of patience. But our training is finally paying off. Everyday there’s something new and everyday his personality shows us something new.

My favourite time of the year is Fall and dare I say Winter! I love being outdoors hiking and exploring with my fiancé and our pup. I’ve always had an attachment to nature and country-like settings as it reminds me of spending my childhood, spending summers up north at my Grandparents house.

Mermaid Makeup Look + Photoshoot

Looking for a last minute easy Halloween costume? Look no further! At the end of the summer my sister and talented photographer at Magic in Colours Photography, Christina, put together a ‘colour-bomb’ photoshoot. Each model had a theme and a colour story such as Galaxy (pink and purple) and Sunset (red, orange and yellow). My theme was Mermaid. AMAZING. With my love of makeup and doing makeup for others, I immediately volunteered to create the looks! The photos turned out so well. You should definitely take a look at her Facebook page to check out some of her other photography shoots!

Take a look below to see how they turned out along with instructions on how to recreate the look.
14196137_10210395943792905_888289908311708280_o14125515_10210395945672952_4781512954267177951_o14195441_10210395946912983_9085731894760438236_o14195948_10210395947392995_7776021807641557503_o14188316_10210395950233066_4265275387667742112_o14206210_10210395943312893_1612475264060241719_o14195947_10210395943352894_805317510109974234_o14195909_10210395951673102_5965503197725029737_o

As for the Mermaid makeup…here’s what you’ll need:

  • Aqua, turquoise, navy blue, green and purple eye shadow
  • Black eyeliner
  • Mascara
  • Fishnet Stockings
  • Highlighter
  • Blue lipstick (optional: I used the eye shadows to create the lip look!)

I started the look by creating a smokey blue eye, defining the lashes with eyeliner and then applying many coats of mascara. I then placed the fishnet stockings where I wanted to add the effect of scales and dusted a layer of light blue and then added deeper tones such as the green and purple. I found it easier to wet the brushes so that the eye shadow stuck well to my face! Once the scales were in place, I added a blue lip to tie the whole look together. Since I did not have any blue lipstick, I simply wet the eye shadows on the back of my hand with a lip brush and then applied directly to my lips. I added highlighter on the high points of my face and lightly over the scales to add some sheen and dimension.

For my hair, I wanted it to look wet and slicked back, as if I had just surfaced from the water (did I mention I have a really big imagination?). So I used gel and mousse to slick my hair back with a comb and hair sprayed it in place. I used a couple of bobby pins to keep some stray hairs from slipping out. But overall, the look was very simple to do.

The shots definitely speak for themselves! They turned out great.

Fun fact: the shoot took 10 times longer than planned because wasps were attracted to the colour bombs and we had to keep running away! Okay…I had to keep running away…they are my #1 fear!

For a more detailed guide on how to recreate this look check out this video here by one of my favourite beauty bloggers, Melissa Alatorre. Want the outfit too? Check out Lauren Conrad’s DIY post here.
